The School of Youth Ministry began in 1987 with the first batch of Form 5 school-leavers. This programme was first called the Vacation Involvement Personnel (VIP) Programme. It is designed for young people who have just finished their SPM and STPM examination, who would set aside their vacation time to study the Word and give their lives to the service of the Lord.
This is a youth leaders’ programme that requires the student to attend classes everyday and devote their time to studying the Bible and leadership principles. Many youth have already benefited from this programme and we have been successfully graduating students every year.
Through the years, the programme has been developed to better meet the needs of youth in the changing times by using different leadership principles. Possibly the highlight of SYM is the mission trip, whereby the candidates will put whatever they have learnt into practical ministry. This trip will give opportunities for candidates to minister in city churches as well as rural areas.
